Honda CBR1000RR Fireblade joins RAF reserves

Honda (UK) are supporting the RAF Reserves racing project for 2012 as they compete in the British Superstock 1000 Championship with the popular and ever-successful Honda CBR1000RR Fireblade.  The stock Honda Fireblade, and a selection of performance racing parts, are being supplied by Honda (UK).

20 this year - Happy Birthday Fireblade!

The Honda Fireblade is celebrating its 20th birthday this year and has obviously reached its prime! It is popular with both professional and amateur racers because of its great pedigree - it has an almost unparalleled success rate including three British Superbikes titles, 14 TT wins and a World Superbike Championship title.

The RAF Reserves Racing team are taking a huge step up this year as they take on the best Superstock 1000 racers in the country in the support series for the British Superbike Championship.  They are putting their faith in a Senior aircraftsman Tom Gazzard who rides for the team when he is not maintaining Tornado GR4's ready for service in Afghanistan. The teams' dedication to all things fast, their great attitude to racing and their desire for community building all appeal to Honda (UK).

Lee Harvey, the RAF Reserves Racing team manager is delighted with the support the team are receiving, saying: "It is fantastic to have the backing of Honda (UK) and Honda Racing. Even though all technical aspects of the project are handled by ourselves day to day, it is great to know that we are starting with the most competitive machinery out there and that we can call on the huge amount of experience Honda Racing have when we need advice."

Honda (UK) says...

Neil Tuxworth, Manager of Honda Racing says: "The team have such a good attitude towards racing and view it as an opportunity to build a sense of community. This is what we at Honda believe it is all about and was the primary reason we decided to support this project. Moving into the Superstock 1000 championship is a big step up for the team as it is such a competitive series but it will be a great experience and hopefully they can begin to challenge towards the end of the season."
